The Surname Pajari
"My name is not my own, it is borrowed from my ancestors.
I must return it unstained.
My honor is not my own, it is borrowed from my descendants, I must give it to them unbroken.
Our blood is not our own, it is a gift to generations yet unborn.
We should carry it with responsibility."
-Vincent Fund-
Meaning & History
The name Pajari Means "boyar" (Russian Finnish noble). The name has come from Finland's east where Russian influences are quite strong.
The word Bojari in Russian language is a loan word.
The Finno Ugrian Pajari has also another variant Ylimys (Aristocrat which means Higher or Above or More than Ordinary people). This is literally equal than English Aristocrat.
In old Persian habits even the leading bazar traders called each others (in Finnish direct transliteration) in Finnish version Ylhäisyys in respective habits. That is something like "Honoured Higher" transliterated in English language. This word spread among Bolghars and Slavonic peoples. In most cases the Russian Bojari meant "respected higher village elder" ie. Pajari. This name was used mainly to describe the larger heimo (tribal) elders of Finno Ugrian origin which were incorporated in (Slavonized) Rudiker´s kin (Rurik kins) but with lower social status than Rudirik/Rurik own kin Ruhtinaz (in Old Porussi = Old Prussian) transfered to Slavonic Knjäz (Känjäz), later appeared in form Knjaz. This ancient name originated from Asia, is also found in form Kaani (Khan) or Shaahi or Sahibi (Sahib).
In old Chinese history their Emperor is also described under title (in Finnish transliteration) Kiinan Kaani (Khan of China).
In c.700 - 1200 the Finnish tribes used even Kaani for Paavi (Pope). Paavi was the influencial spiritual leader in Rooma, who, with the help of his advisers Kuuria (Huurit), ruled the large army of bypassed spirits. His symbol was kultavati = golden plate and he had his seat at Vatikaani in honour of his golden plate. The golden plate symbolised the Salome´s dance, revarded by Herodes with Johannes head placed on it. That is why he was named Plate Khan.

My longdistance kin in US, Moe Bedard wrote to me about my family name Pajari wich was Boyars in the Past and our familyname Pajari is an left over from this past to tell the story who my family are decent from, He wrote:
The people of warrior race who were the erstwhile professional warriors lost their identity with the collapse of powerful local kingdoms. Those warrior soldiers who managed to retain their control over large tracts of lands became zamindars, administrators, farmers, etc. The rest of them were gradually forced to become Backward class ( BC ) people without any fixed / organized profession in their hands.
Boya / Boyar caste comes under OBC in Central List. In Tamil Nadu as OBC. Andhra Pradesh as BC ( Group 'A') and Karnataka as BC ( Category I ).
The Ode tribes migrated to Gujarat around 12th century for construction of temples in which they are more specialized. People who supplied stone and lime for construction work of Temples, Tanks and wells were termed as Bovi, Oddar, Vaddera, Uppara, sagara and Waddar in Andhra, Tamil nadu and Karnataka. The word 'Bhovi' is a corrupt form of 'Bhavi' which means 'well' in Kannada, it also means 'earth-digger'. They have been involved in the digging of wells. There is a confusion of 'Boya' a 'Kshatriya' caste and 'Bovi' a 'shudra' caste mix-up there is no proper evidence in which period this has taken place, but some gotras are common. Many castes in Andhra pradesh have shared common gotras. This may be one of the reason for mix-up in remote regions in different periods. Thus various irrelevant castes has become sub-caste of Boya.
These may be part of Boyar communities also a sub-caste of other caste or community and some have common gotras / surname through out India.

Some comment from an finnish kin living in Finland about my family Pajari from Finland:
"Your family is inheritant to the late Russian and also swedish (or more notably, Uplandic, as there was no Sweden back then) noble family of Rurikids/Rurikians, and from its main line. They were forced to escape to the Swedish side of the border at a quite a late date, by the time the Throne was transferred to the latest family, the Romanovs. Bojar is a russian word meaning noble, or a house eligible to rust up a man and a horse in the service. Your real family name is that of Rurik, in Russian Rurichsky, so You know. As they had to hide, they could only hint their ancestry, thus the name, noble, pajari. your Uplandic ancestors were also related to Norway, Denmark, and the Normans, but also to the vandals...and the Barbars, too. Your Egyptian 24th great grandmother , the Egyptian princess Tamat, or Thammar escaped to Ireland, called the Tin Island, after the contrarevolution in Egypt after king Tut was murdered. Her grand mother was of Hittitian Royalty, and the hitties later moved to Crimea, then to Scandinavia. I have all the records of Your origins on the Norman side, my self being a distant relative of Yours from these very ancient times Ohm yes, thee is of course the Pajari family clan gathering, and a number of sites, in finnish, that directly relate to Your family. But I also can post You later on Your ancestry down to, believe it or not, old man Noachim! Are you aware of the princess Tamar connection? this all is germanic/ scottish (scythian) inheritance of Yours as we know all of the ancestry down from Rurik ,too.Rurik, or Roderik was the Varagian ruler called from Roslagen in Uppland to govern Russia. He establihed Holmgård/Holmgaard, present day Novgorod. and of him, many Russian noble families come.
He was also of very ancient Upplandic noble family. And thus Rurik is related to almost all of the European noble houses.
The finnic people were not slaves, but -finnic. Present day Russia was completely finnic. Thus many names, like Moscow means something only in finnish, nothing in Russian. it was only slavized a bit later, due to businessYour Uplandic ancestors are very well recorded in many places on the net Wictoria. The finnish national archives also hold records of the pajari origins.Pajari family origins down to their Russian Tzcar family refugee status in the wars that followed after the disputes in Russia in the 16th century. I have once read an entire article of just Your family Russian origins, on how they were chased to Finland, well before the Romanov era, by Ivan the Horrible. I can´t find it on the net. I believe it was in the finnish newspaper Kaleva, some time in the 80´s and maybe it was written by a late cultural person of Aino Pajari.
The family used to write its name as Boyaroff, Bajarov, Bojarov, Bajaroff, and was the younger prince who had to escape to the wilderness area between Sweden and Russia, on the Swedish side, and they got a promise from the Swedish king to settle there. Otherwise the younger prince would have been strangled in Russia. Mark that the use of family names was only introduced around that time here in the North. Before, one was simply that and that, son or daughter of that and that. Even the noble families did not have a real family name."

-SKI vs. -SKY
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=163368
http://www.polishroots.org/Research/SurnameSearch/Surnamesendings/tabid/118/Default.aspx
Quote from the web; "Lord, am I sick of this one! People are always asking things like "If it's spelled -sky, isn't that a Jewish name?" or "Can I conclude my Jablonsky was Czech instead of Polish?"
Historically the spellings of Eastern European surnames have varied so much -- even back home in Europe, let alone in North America -- that you can't lay out a hard and fast rule for this -ski/-sky business. The rule of thumb, however, is that -ski usually is associated with Poles; -sky may be associated with Czechs, Ukrainians, Russians, etc. There are jillions of exceptions, but if you want a basic rule to go by, that's it.
That's because Polish spelling rules say -k- can never be followed by -y, only by -i. Well, Poles arrived in this country writing their names in the same alphabet we use. Some of the special Polish letters caused problems, but the -ski ending was easy enough to copy and use. So as a rule Poles tended to spell their names -ski even after they came to America.
Religion was not really a factor. Jews tended to use whatever spelling was regarded as correct where they lived. As I say, in Polish -sky is incorrect, -ski is correct, so Jews living among Poles usually spelled it -ski. Jews living among Czechs spelled it -sky because that is correct in Czech. If they lived in what is now Belarus or Russia or Ukraine -- as millions did -- their names were written in the Cyrillic alphabet, and could be rendered in our alphabet as -ski, -sky, -skiy, -skyi, -skyj, -skij, and so on. Most often it ended up as -sky, so that spelling seems to predominate among Jewish immigrants. But there were and are plenty of Jews in America who spell their names -ski.
There seems to be a tendency among German- and English-speakers to spell this Slavic suffix as -sky, to the point that even Polish immigrants quit fighting it and accepted that spelling. I'm not sure what accounts for that tendency, but I have a theory: Czech influence. In Czech -sky (actually with an accent over the y) is the correct spelling. Over the centuries Germans have dealt a lot with Czechs, and that experience may have convinced them -sky is the right way to spell this suffix. And when Poles immigrated to the U. S., they often found sizable Czech communities already flourishing here; in many cities Poles went to Czech churches and social events, until they were numerous enough to establish their own. Since the Czechs had come first, and the Poles often mixed with them, it's understandable that Americans became familiar with the Czech spelling first, and regarded it as standard. That may explain why, in Europe and especially in America, the -sky often shows up in instances where it was not "correct.""
The ending of the sky means Son Of. In my familytree i have Rurikovich which aslo means Son of Rurik. The endings was used for telling who's son it was, what father he was decent from. As in Swedish/Finnish/Norse Son of can be in my case Olofsson or in finnish Olavinpoika which is from my gr gr grandfather Olov (in Swedish Olof). My mom spelled her surname Olovsson.

As in Swedish/Finnish/Norse Son of can be in my case Olofsson or in finnish Olavinpoika which is from my gr gr grandfather Olov (in Swedish Olof). My mom spelled her surname Olovsson.
